About the Book
Marla Lackey’s mother was her best friend—her rock. Throughout her childhood, she learned many lessons from her mom that became the foundation of her life. Then, when Marla was just in her thirties, her beloved mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, creating a reversal of roles. Suddenly, it was Marla’s turn to be the rock, as she took on the role of caregiver.
Marla began to see correlations between her mother’s cancer journey and the lessons she’d been taught as a child. Her mom, in the vulnerability of illness, needed her daughter to gift those very same lessons back to her. Marla came to call these blessed “full-circle moments,” which included everything from their mutual faith in God to the significance of a simple tube of lipstick.
An inspirational memoir about love, caregiving, and grief, Faith and a Tube of Lipstick shows just how powerful the bond between a mother and daughter can be. Whether you’ve experienced cancer in your life, served as a caregiver, grieved a parent, or needed to find your faith, this story is sure to capture your heart.
